So here’s the deal: I was caught in a massive hailstorm here in Denver, CO that managed to puncture my 2002 NB Miata’s soft top in about 4 or 5 places around the rear window. Me being the poor man I am, I submitted an insurance claim to replace the soft top ($500 deductible sounded way better than $1000 to have one installed). Adjuster checks out the car and says there’s hail damage all over the body. I seriously cannot see more than a few dents in the dark Emerald Green paint. Anyway, my insurance declared it a total loss due to the hail damage. I got my check about a week later and now I have some money to have fun with.
I was planning on building an Exocet at some point down the line, but this is pretty much the best case scenario for me. The car has VVT, Torsen LSD, 6MT, recently installed Ohlins coilovers, and was declared a total loss due to hail damage (whaaaaatever).
I recently bought a hardtop to use while I’m getting the rest of my Exocet funds in place, but I should be ordering the kit in the next 12-18 months or so. The entire body will be replaced and the vast majority of the interior will be removed. If anyone wants dibs on any parts, let me know and I’ll put your name on it. Oppo prices, of course. If you want more details or photos, let me know.
Passenger seat is HEATED and in excellent condition. Probably going to keep the not-excellent-condition driver’s seat for a Gran Turismo cockpit.
Windblocker is already out of the car and ready to be shipped.

.
OEM 16” wheels will also be parted-out.
OEM hardtop has a not-great red paintjob, but I have had it
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Vintage Gold.
OEM Nardi steering wheel will be parted-out. Overall good condition with the beginnings of some UV damage on the top of the rim (still smooth to the touch). I love this steering wheel. It’s just sublime to hold and fits right in my hands.
Sunvisors are already out of the car and ready to be shipped.
OEM leather soft top boot ready to be shipped.
OEM car cover ready to be shipped.
Practically everything seen in these photos is up for grabs. Again, if you have any questions or want more photos, let me know.
This trunk pocket thing is also up for grabs. I’ve never really seen it anywhere else, IRL or online. It’s pretty nifty to have, TBH. I keep a scarf and other knick-knacky stuff in there that I don’t want flying around the trunk all the time. I believe it is primarily attached to the trunk lid with adhesive. Make an offer on it. Can ship immediately.
P.S. I know 12-18 months is a long turn-around time for most of these parts. Sorry. I will post this again closer to when the kit actually arrives.

Unf, I could use a replacement Bose unit now that my LCD is slowly dying off and I don’t want to ruin the look with an aftermarket unit. Consider me curious.

How much do you want for the hardtop once you’re ready to part with it?

“Oppo prices, of course” Normally these panels are worth $100 each, but seeing as how its you, I’m going to need the money in advance.

Oof, this photo was taken a few years ago right after I bought the car. The first thing I did was swap out the head unit for this guy , which I could not be happier with. I never use CDs in my car and this head unit doesn’t have a CD player. Instead, there’s a pocket for an iPod that you can plug straight in and never think about again. Also the LED and LCD lighting can be switched from blue to red, which complements the car’s other red/amber interior lighting perfectly. I love it.

I paid more than what it’s worth because it was pretty much the only one within 900 miles of me for sale at the time. It’s one of the first hardtops; it has no defroster or headliner. It has an old, bad respray that’s chipping.
However! I am dropping it off tomorrow to be professionally plastidipped (with a good bit of surface prep beforehand). It’ll be Vintage Gold to go with my Emerald Mica paint, but it should look great on any green, black, white, red or dark blue Miata. Especially if you have some gold wheels to match.

I would be interested in the steering wheel and the shift knob if that is going.

The beautiful thing is that you have PLENTY of time to save up some cash! I won’t be ripping out the steering wheel until I actually take the car off the roads and into the garage for the transplant (at least 12-18 months). Should I put your name down and send you an email when it comes time? You can have first dibs.

The steering wheel is definitely going. I offered first dibs to Scary- , but if he doesn’t want it, you have second dibs. Could I get an email address for you?
I think I’m going to keep the Nardi shift knob. I like it too much to replace. It’ll be a nice carry-over from the Miata. It may be the only appreciable Miata part left on the Exocet at some point down the road!

sure dylan_sailing@hotmail.com let me know about both the wheel and if you change your mind on the knob.

Start a Miata savings account. By the time I’m shipping things off in a year-and-a-half or so you could have a Miata!

But it’s the best. Track day, bro. My Exocet could hang out at the track with its old parts in your Miata. C’mon, bro. Track day.

Agreed on the Emerald Green. I’m going to try to carry it onto the Exocet somehow.
See my reply here for more info on the hardtop. I can put you down as #2 in line for the hardtop if you want.
This miata.net thread says there are some holes in the trunklid with bolts. Let me know if you want the whole trunklid or just the spoiler. GoMiata is selling a reproduction spoiler for $240.
Thanks!

And this is how race cars begin: hail damage!
Idk whether I should say sorry or congrats.
Btw, gorgeous color combo.

Unfortunately the tupperware lip has suffered some (mostly paint I believe) damage since these photos were taken. I can take a photo for you later today if you’re still interested in picking it up at a cheap price.

That’s quite alright. My NB is black, so I’d have to repaint it anyway. I’m also in Toronto, so we’ll probably have to ship.
P.S. Your NB looks VERY clean. Emerald Green on tan is such a lovely combo. Sorry to hear about your insurance totaling it, but it’s nice to know it’ll live on!

Thanks for the kind words! I’m a real big fan of the Emerald Green, too. I’m going to try to bring the paint to the Exocet somehow.

huh, never knew miata’s had these neat pouches in the trunk.
I’m in Denver too, always thought an exocet project would be fun, I’d be happy to lend a helping hand/wrench/ride to the parts store, if you need one.

The pouches were a dealer option I think? Someone told me a company named Saratoga made them and are obviously no longer available. Like I said, I’ve only ever seen my own.
Thanks for the offer! We should get a Denver Oppo meetup going at some point.

And our Miata is actually a Special Edition, so it’s dark grey. Wed probably just leave it gold until we could afford to have it painted, though.

MarquetteLa

Sorry, I meant pretty much everything is still available but the wheels. You were looking at the front bumper? There are some mounting points that are damaged for the bumper itself, and the front air dam has some scrapes on the underside — should be totally fine if you repaint it. Let me know if you’re still interested.

MarquetteLa

Absolutely! Side skirts & left mud guard are in good condition. Right mud guard has paint peeling and bubbling. Not an issue if you’re planning on painting.
